Total Donates Shops, Boreholes To Rivers Communities

Total E&P Nigeria Ltd (TEPNG) has constructed and donated 10 market stalls and 10 boreholes to some of its host communities in Oil Mining License (OML) 58 in Rivers State.

The 10 market stalls were donated to Elele-Alimini community in Emohua Local Government area of the state while the 10 boreholes were donated to Elele-Okinali community in Ikwerre Local Government area of the state.

“The gesture was in line with the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the company and its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with its host communities,” said Community Affairs Manager, Mr. Okechukwu Obara who handed over the project on behalf of Total.

Obara, who charged the benefitting communities to imbibe maintenance culture and make good use of the facilities, advised them to always nominate projects that will have direct impact on the lives of the people.

He also urged the host communities to always bring people with good character to represent them in the firm and promised that TEPNG will continue to try its best to live up to its corporate social responsibilities.

Responding on behalf of Elele-Okinali community, Chief Emmanuel Okah thanked the multinational oil firm for the gesture and demanded for more meaningful developmental projects for the community.

Also responding, the vice chairman of Elele-Alimini Community Development Committee (CDC), Livinus Oloko, called on TEPNG to ensure that it provide employment for teeming unemployed youths in its host communities.
