TotalEnergies in Nigeria

TotalEnergies as a group is active in the whole value chain of oil and gas: upstream, midstream and downstream. In line with our Committed to Better Energy ambition, TotalEnergies downstream launched the first solar-powered service station in West Africa, TotalEnergies service station, Onigbagbo on June 12, 2014. The construction of this service station is part of efforts towards providing energy solutions that are efficient and environmentally friendly.

The company has been serving the Nigerian hydrocarbons industry for more than half a century, in partnership with the Nigerian Government and in different equity associations with other private companies.

The Upstream activities of TotalEnergies in Nigeria

TotalEnergies EP Nigeria Limited, TEPNG, an affiliate of TotalEnergies S.E., has operated in the upstream sector of the Nigerian hydrocarbon industry for almost 60 years and has added over 3.6 billion barrels of oil equivalent to Nigeria's production to date.

Incorporated in Nigeria in 1962, TEPNG has maintained strong and steadfast partnerships with the Nigerian Government, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and several indigenous companies, in developing the country's hydrocarbon industry.

TEPNG operates and holds a 40% interest in the NNPC/TEPNG Joint Venture, producing oil and natural gas from several onshore and shallow water concessions. TotalEnergies Gaz Electricite Holdings France (TGEHF) also has a 15% interest in Nigeria LNG, which currently operates 6 LNG liquefaction trains on Bonny Island. In addition, TEPNG has non-operated interests in the SPDC-operated joint venture (10%), the Bonga field (12.5%) and the Usan field (20%). Another TotalEnergies affiliate, TotalEnergies Upstream Nigeria Limited (TUPNI), operates the Akpo and Egina fields in OML 130 deepwater lease.

The Downstream activities of TotalEnergies in Nigeria

The downstream activities are managed by TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc (TMNPLC), which was incorporated in 1956. 

Today, TMNPLC is the leader in the downstream sector of the Nigerian oil and gas industry, with an extensive distribution network of 577 service stations nationwide and delivers a wide range of top-quality service to its customer from its seventeen-customer service centres, five White Product Depots, two Lubricants blending plants and numerous industrial outlets which are strategically located across Nigeria to ensure smooth delivery of products to customers.

TotalEnergies Service Stations: the “one-stop-centres”

To satisfy the evolving needs of its customers, TMNPLC developed a 'one-stop-centre' strategy whereby a variety of customer needs are met in one place, TotalEnergies service stations. Therefore, in addition to receiving premium care from service assistants, customers could purchase petroleum products, gas, lubricants, car-care products, insecticides, groceries etc. conveniently at our Café Bonjour shops, pick up a meal from our partners at our stations (KFC & Chicken Republic) and receive premium car maintenance and care services from our AutoExpress and Auto Clean Deluxe Services. Our corporate customer demands for bulk products are met through our Vendor Management Service and Equipment/Technical Assistance service.

We contribute to the socio-economic development of our host communities by supporting, training and developing Nigerians using several societal impact interventions including skills acquisition programmes and our Young Dealers Scheme.

OUR PARTNERS

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is the state oil corporation which was established on April 1, 1977. In addition to its exploration activities, the Corporation was given powers and operational interests in refining, petrochemicals and products transportation as well as marketing.

NNPC is in a joint venture partnership with Total E&P Nigeria in exploration and production of oil and gas. The partnership is contracted through a Joint Operating Agreements (JOA) which is a basic, standard agreement between the NNPC and Total in Nigeria.

SPDC partners with Total in Nigeria through Joint Venture partnership to explore and produce of oil and gas.

In Nigeria, the Shell operated companies SPDC, SNEPCO and SNG employ more than 6000 direct employees and contractors of which over 90% are Nigerians.

Chevron in Nigeria partners with Total in Nigeria through Joint Venture partnership to explore and produce of oil and gas.

Chevron is the third-largest oil producer in Nigeria and one of its largest investors. In Nigeria, we operate under a joint-venture arrangement with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and have assets on land and in near-offshore regions of the Niger Delta. Chevron also has extensive interests in multipartner deepwater operations. We operate the Agbami Field, one of Nigeria's largest deepwater discoveries. We also have a nonoperated interest in the Usan Field.

Mobil Producing Nigeria is one of the largest oil producers in Nigeria. The company commenced operations in Nigeria in 1955 under the name Mobil Exploration Nigeria Incorporated (MENI). MPN operates a Joint Venture with the Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). The Federal Government has a 60 percent share, with the remaining 40 percent being MPN.  Since 1961, when the company was granted Oil Prospecting License (OPL) offshore present Akwa Ibom State, MPN has made visible contributions to the development of Nigeria's oil and gas industry. The company and its joint venture partner, NNPC, operate over 90 offshore platforms comprising of about 300 producing wells at a capacity of over 550 thousand barrels a day of crude, condensate and natural gas liquids (NGL).
